Position Summary

The Credit Manager will lead, develop, and administer all credit-related policies and programs at Pilot Thomas Logistics.  The candidate must have experience with credit practices including periodic credit reviews of existing customers, the assessment of the creditworthiness of potential customers, and optimize company sales and minimize risks. The candidate must follow up with customers, work to resolve account issues, and foster good internal/external working relationships with customers, management and the sales team to promote cooperation and positive customer relations. This position reports to the Corporate Controller.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and standardize written policy documentation related to the credit and customer set up process.
  • Interface with sales organization to communicate credit decisions and ensure timely review of new customers.
  • Make credit decisions within assigned authority.
  • Establish credit lines & proactively monitor counterparty exposure.
  • Maintain credit insurance & negotiate on behalf of the organization.
  • Plan and organize activities of credit / customer set up team to ensure file reviews are completed timely / accurately.
  • Initiate process improvement and quality reviews to simplify and improve productivity.
  • Negotiate documentation and payment terms with customers to ensure transactions are properly secured.
  • Resolve credit issues with customers.
  • Develop management reporting and provide analytical support for credit-related exposure.

 

Typical Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years in Credit and Collections management, preferably in the energy industry
  • Vast understanding of credit reporting agencies (D&B / Equifax)
  • Must have a working knowledge of financial, legal, treasury, UCC and Bankruptcy issues.
  • Must be familiar with credit procedures
  • Strong computer skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP and JDE
  • Proficient in reading / interpreting financial statements for the purpose of underwriting credit
  • CPA, CFA, or MBA a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Ability to manage relationships both internally and externally
  • Strong audit background, problem solving and customer service skills
  • Fast paced environment
