Position Summary

Pilot Thomas Logistics is one of the nation's largest provider of lubricants and lube related service.  We have built this market position based on service and providing innovative solutions to help solve some of our customer's most difficult problems.

The Lubrication Engineer is a key member of the go-to-market team to support our valued customers.  This role is responsible for proving technical support on lubricant and coolant products with an emphasis on applications in the Energy Business (Drilling rigs, Natural gas engines, etc).  The position will be accountable for delivering specific objectives that are consistent with the overall joint customer and PTL annual Lubrication Program.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support Operations on oil handling, as it relates to product quality and standards.
  • Provide guidance on Company's inventory management practices to minimize product variations for like products.
  • Provide lubricant recommendations to ensure the best product is selected for key applications.
  • Provide technical expertise to all front line sales team.
  • Conduct customer lubrication surveys and audits.
  • Interpret used oil analysis results and helping customers take corrective action to minimize failure and extend component life.
  • Assist customers with optimizing oil drain intervals and extending oil filter life.
  • Conduct engine inspections and document engine oil performance.
  • Conduct internal product and application training for our internal sales and Customer Service Center teams as well as conduct external training sessions to a variety of topics to end user customers.
  • Help establish value added objectives with key customers and then coordinating the lubrication savings program each year.
  • Work in a Collaborative team marketing environment.
  • Special projects as requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Typical Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Required
  • CLS Certifications Preferred
  • 5-10 years working on Lubrication related topics in the Energy Industry
  • Familiarity with major lubricant manufacturers products
  • Understanding of the components and applications
  • Ability to establish and lead value added customer lubricant programs from start to finish
  • Ability to coach and train others
  • Operate with the highest levels of integrity

  • Demonstrate good negotiating skills
  • Demonstrate a "service orientation" attitude with Customers and team members
  • Manage expenses and assets appropriately and within policies and guidelines
